The Baltics
Baltic States or Baltic Countries or simply The Baltics is a term most accurately used when referring to Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. However, some people think that any country which fronts onto the Baltic Sea is a Baltic Country. For this reason we have included in this tour visits within Poland and Finland.... and we put Berlin into the tour as well, because many of our previous guests thought Berlin to be a very interesting city.
Something for everyone
A leisurely paced, escorted small group coach tour with very nice accommodation, meals that highlight local culinary delights and includes visits that feature natural and cultural charms of this thought provoking region.
This trip actually starts in Berlin, Germany and finishes in Helsinki, Finland. In between these two wondrous cities we will take you on a fully escorted small group tour through Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
All four countries were previously controlled by the former USSR but are now all independent countries fronting onto the Baltic Sea. You will be surprised at how different they are to other parts of Europe. There are still remnants to be seen of the former Soviet legacy and a wonderful mixture of old and new.
Frozen by Communism and the Cold War for much of the 20th century Poland and the Baltic States have thawed over recent years, revealing a region filled with unique culture, architecture and picturesque sights. Even local people are rediscovering their own cultural roots, with writers, musicians and artists practicing their crafts without restrictions. Palaces have been polished and historic districts restored. Churches have been renovated and reopened, their shiny gold domes and soaring spires gracing city skylines.
Now is a great time to discover the diversity of history and culture along the Baltic Sea Coast and inland to ancient villages, beautiful countryside, Jewish historical sites, bustling markets, a wealth of fine art and architectural masterpieces ranging from medieval and Art Deco to modern.
Fully escorted with all accommodation and transportation
You will be staying in first class accommodation and accompanied by local English speaking guides as well as an Australian Tour Director.
Our private luxury charter coach will take our small group of about 20 like minded people to picturesque sights away from the train line, into villages and nature areas that independent travellers can only get to with a lot of extra time and effort.
Plus, we include guided tours and free time in Estonia's Tallinn, Latvia's Riga and Lithuania's Vilnius as well as visits to famous attractions and picturesque sights in Berlin, Krakow, Warsaw and Helsinki.
