Highlights of Scandinavia Tour

This small group escorted tour takes you to all the Scandinavian countries. The main attractions of Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and Reykjavik will be visited.

In addition to this, a special excursion above the Arctic Circle to the city of Tromso and the island of Skjervoy are included for you to experience The Midnight Sun and Norway's spectacular nature and coastal scenery. We also take you on a 4 wheel drive tour into the Icelandic countryside.

Visit all the capital cities of Scandinavia

This might be your first and only tour to Scandinavia, so we have included all the capital cities in this one tour. Helsinki in Finland, Stockholm in Sweden, Copenhagen in Denmark, Oslo in Norway and Reykjavik in Iceland. ( and , just in case you are confused .. Iceland is the green place .. Greenland is the place covered with ice).

Highlights of each city will be visited and free time will be allocated for guests to pursue personal interests or to simply relax. In Helsinki, overlooking the Gulf of Finland and Europe's largest archipelago we visit Uspenski Orthodox Church, Sveaborg Fortress Island and the National Museum. In Stockholm we see the unbelievably well preserved 17th century Galleon 'Wasa', the Royal Castle, wander around the enchanting cobbled streets of Gamla Stan ( Old Town) and visit City Hall with its famous Blue and Golden Halls, where the Nobel Prize banquet is held each year. In Copenhagen we spend time in the picturesque Nyhaven waterfront area and visit the Royal Amalienborg Palace, whilst in Oslo we visit Vigeland sculpture park and the Viking Ship Museum.

Scenic wonders and natural attractions

From Reykjavik we tour by 4 wheel drive vehicles out of town, to enjoy the natural wonders of Iceland, a beautiful country that is rarely visited by tourists to Scandinavia. Here we visit the thundering Gullfoss Waterfall, a greenhouse community, geothermal fields with their erupting geysers, 40 metre high Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, Myrdalsjokull Glacier and Skogafoss Waterfall.

Meet an Icelandic farmer who will tell you about his lifestyle. In far northern Norway we cruise in a traditional Norwegian fishing boat into a fjord, to the village of Rein. Here in this wonderful photogenic setting we meet local fishermen, who can tell us all about the nature of this area and it's wildlife.

We meet with members of a local ornithological club in Sweden, who can tell us all about bird watching in their area. And, we visit Sweden's Ecopark.



Land of the Midnight Sun

Enjoy the Midnight Sun, the exotic bright Arctic nights and the beautiful Arctic scenery. We include in this tour a flight to Tromso, above the Arctic Circle. You will be here for the longest day of the year when the sun can be seen just rolling along the horizon ( weather permitting ) before rising again for the next day ... without the dark of night as we know it.

Despite being far north of the Arctic Circle, Tromso has a surprising amount of vegetation due to the North Atlantic Gulf Stream, which provides the area with a warmer climate than one would expect. Roald Amundsen used Tromso as the starting point for his famous expeditions to the far north and the city became known as the 'Gateway to the Arctic'.

Still in the Land of the Midnight Sun we sail through the spectacular island studded waterways of the Norwegian coast to the Island of Skjervoy, a remote fishing community not usually included on other tours.



Accommodation & Transport

Accommodation will be in 4 and 5 star hotels in each of the major cities and in the best available hotels in Tromso and Skjervoy Island.

Cabins on the international overnight ferries will be in two berth cabins with private facilities.

Touring will be by private luxury charter coach with ample spare seats for better viewing and comfort. Breakfasts are included daily with dinners provided on various nights for your convenience, in selected restaurants which highlight local flavour and culinary delights.

Guests from all countries are welcome to join us. Though many of our guests are from Australia and USA , we are often joined by people from New Zealand, UK, South Africa and Canada. All our tours are in English only and our Guides are all local in the countries in which we are touring .
