Exclusive small group, guided tour in Hokkaido island and northern Honshu island, featuring authentic Japanese Spa Inns, picturesque rural scenery, bird watching, historic towns of Hakodate and Nikko, an Ainu village, Sapporo, Tokyo, Mt Fuji, traditional Japanese banquets and restful therapeutic Onsen Spa Baths.

Accommodation & Japanese Cuisine

Hotels and Japanese Inns have been specially chosen, guaranteeing your own private room accommodation, authentic local cuisine dining experiences, therapeutic spa baths and excellent locations. In Tokyo you will be staying for 3 nights in the luxurious Park Hotel located in Shiodome, a new 21st century development area, with magnificent views over the city from your room above the 25th floor.

On your overnight cruise on the Inter-Island Ferry between Hokkaido and Honshu we will provide you with guaranteed single use of your cabin... and believe it or not, the ship even has an Onsen Bath for you to experience.

On six other nights throughout the tour your accommodation will be in genuine Japanese style accommodation with sliding paper doors, soft futon beds made up for you on tatami floors and authentic banquets of local cuisine, which is a feast for your eyes as much as a sensation for your taste buds.

Traditional Japanese Baths

Enjoy the cultural pleasure of genuine Japanese spa baths (onsen) where therapeutic waters are said to cure everything from arthritis to fatigue.

All Ryokans or Inns have an indoor spa bath ( segregated by male and female ) filled with geothermal water in which all guests can bathe, soak and socialise. Not all Japanese Inns have a private shower in your room. Most Ryokans offer you a wonderful experience of enjoying a soak in a spa bath in the open, under the stars at night or birdwatching from you bath in the day. One Ryokan in which we will be staying even gives you a very traditional "option" of bathing in an outdoor spa, created amongst the rocks on the edge of a river, surrounded by forest.

On nights when we stay in western style hotels you will only have the more familiar shower and western bath tub in your own bathroom.

All accommodation rooms provided during this tour include a very familiar western style toilet ( with seat ) for your comfort and convenience.

Planes & Boats & Trains .. and private charter executive coaches.

On the first day of your tour, after your night of arrival in Japan, we include in the land cost of this tour, your flight from Tokyo to Hakodate on Hokkaido Island. We also include an overnight cruise from Tomakomae to Sendai which will offer you an excellent opportunity for early morning viewing of pelagic birds. This is a multi deck ocean going stabilised cruise ship, in which we provide single use of cabins with private facilities for each guest.

Our private charter executive coaches will take you beyond the reach of public transport and we will to drive 2,300m up Mt. Fuji to above the tree line, as long as the road is open. In addition to this we provide all necessary train travel including the famous Shinkansen bullet train which reaches speeds up to 250 kph.

Travelling Solo on an escorted small group tour

Travelling solo does not have to mean travelling alone! Travelling alone can sometimes be a daunting prospect, particularly in countries where English is not commonly spoken or understood and where away from the big cities there is very little written in English. This often leads to culture shock and a traumatic experience that can ruin a holiday.

Travelling as part of an organised small group in Japan does provide security and peace of mind. We handle all of the arrangements for you, and your tour director is always on hand to provide advice and help when needed throughout the tour. Most groups tend to socialise together and the majority of the group usually choose to eat together as well.

Remember that there will be no more than 10 people on this tour so you are guaranteed of not getting lost or overlooked in a crowded tour bus.

Something for everyone

This tour is ideal for people who wish to discover the beauty, history, culture and nature of Hokkaido Island. Here we visit the historic city of Hakodate, the islands biggest city Sapporo, the port of Noboribetsu, Lake Toya and Goryokaku Pentagonal Fort, the first western fortification built in Japan.

Rarely visited by foreign tourists this is a vast island of wild coastal cliffs, extensive marshlands and forested mountains, a wonderful photographic resource for birds, plants, animals and very picturesque scenery.

Central Honshu Island will also be included with visits to Matsushima, with it's numerous pine tree covered islands set in a sheltered bay, the port of Sendai, the ancient city of Nikko and Fuji Hakone Izu National Park.
